Homemade Marshmallows

Hot chocolate with marshmallows during the holidays is *probably* everyone’s childhood delight. But the store-bought ones are so processed and sugary, so here’s a surprisingly easy recipe for homemade marshmallows! Note that your arm will get a workout for about 10 minutes (although probably good after eating all these holiday treats).

Ingredients
  • Arrowroot flour, 3 tbsp.
  • Honey, 1/4 cup
  • Water, 1 cup
  • Gelatin, 3 tbsp.
  • Vanilla essence, 1/3 tsp.
In a bowl, mix gelatin and 1/2 cup water and let it set for 10 min.
In a separate pot, mix honey and 1/2 cup water and bring to a boil for 5 min.
Add vanilla essence to your gelatin / water mix.
Mix boiled honey water with your gelatin mixture and beat well for 10 min. until the mixture turns from brown to frothy white.
Line a square pan with baking paper or clear wrap (and make sure the sides are also lined) and coat the bottom with 1 tbsp. arrowroot flour.
Pour your honey / gelatin / water mixture over the arrowroot powder.
Let it sit in a cool dry room for 4~5 hours until set.
Once it’s set, top off with 2 tbsp. arrowroot flour.
Cut your marshmallow in cubes and make sure all sides are coated generously with arrowroot flour!
