Introduction
Beet Breakfast Smoothie
Beets are awesome for pregnancy (and everyday life) as they are a great source of folate, one of the most important vitamins you need for baby’s growth and spinal and brain development. They also contain manganese and calcium, which is involved in bone formation, and prevents osteoporosis especially while you’re growing another human being and susceptible to brittle bones. It also regulates metabolism and maintains blood pressure, contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory benefits.
I absolutely love beets, but if you’re not a fan of their distinct, “earthy” flavor, here’s a way to incorporate this versatile veggie in your everyday diet!
Ingredients
- Beet, 1
- Banana, 1
- Frozen blueberries, 1/4 cup
- Unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 tbsp.
- Cinnamon, a dash
- Honey (optional)
- Milk, 2 cups
Chop one small beet in small chunks so that it will blend easily with the other ingredients.
I like to add honey to my smoothies but omit if you want to keep it less sweet.
Blend and serve – that’s it!
