Introduction
Baked Honey Figs and Halloumi
End of summer and beginning of autumn is fig, or ichijiku, season in Japan. Figs are native to the Mediterranean area and have amazing health benefits like reducing high blood pressure, improving digestion and increasing bone density due to its high calcium and potassium content. It’s also naturally sweet and is a great alternative to processed sugar.
In my last post, I shared about the health benefits of halloumi cheese. Because halloumi is salty with a chewy, “squeaky” texture, it pairs excellently with the succulent, sweet fig. Top your leafy greens with baked halloumi and figs for an easy but fancy-looking lunch!
