Citrus Marinade Pork

This citrus marinade uses oranges, which keeps the meat and sauce tasting sweet without getting acidic. Combine the sweetness with spicy cumin and salt, and you’ve got a mouthwatering dinner reminiscent of tropical getaways and summer BBQs!

Introduction

Citrus Marinade Pork

I love how freshly squeezed oranges add so much citrusy flavor to meat without getting too acidic (lemons tend to do this – tricky!). It also contains more sugar than lemons, which caramelizes the marinade and meat together.

This is another simple recipe that you can prep beforehand! The beauty of this marinade is that you don’t have to marinate the pork for long hours – I recommend 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Citrus Marinade Pork Meraki Japan

Ingredients

  • Oranges, 2, chopped
  • Onion, 1/2, chopped
  • Garlic, 3 cloves, diced
  • Cumin, 1 tsp.
  • Fennel, a dash
  • Salt, 2 tsp.
  • Pepper, ground, 1 tsp.
  • Olive oil, 1 tbsp.
  • Pork chops, 4-5 thick pieces

Blend all ingredients (except the pork, obviously) and marinate the pork for at least 30 min.

Before frying, you’ll see that the marinade will have separated into liquid and pulp.

Remove as much liquid as possible while keeping the pulpy sauce goodness and then fry until brown (usually around 5-10 min.)!
